Hail Malhar!

Hail Malhar!
Khandoba Maharaj is a highly revered and popular Kshatriya deity in Maharashtra. He is known by various names such as Malhar, Malhari Martand, Martand Bhairav, and Khandoba. He is considered an incarnation of Lord Shiva, and is worshipped with great devotion, especially in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
Place of Origin – Jejuri
The main place of Khandoba is Jejuri, a famous pilgrimage site in Pune district. Thousands of devotees visit this holy place every day for darshan. Known as the golden Jejuri of Jejuri, Khandoba devotees perform devotional services with great devotion, including ban and udi.
History of Khandoba
The main battle of Khandoba Dev was with the demonic powers of Mani and Malla. In this war, he defeated these demonic powers with his prowess and established the religion. On the occasion of this victory, devotees worship him in the traditional manner of worshipping Mala, breaking the Bhandara, and raising the Ban.
Appearance and devotion
Khandoba is depicted as a warrior riding a horse, holding a spear and sword in his hands.
Through the stories of his two wives – Mhalsa (an incarnation of Lakshmi) and Banai (a Dhangar girl) – Khandoba's devotion reaches people of different castes and religions equally.
He is worshipped with special devotion by the common people, farmers, Dhangars, and Kshatriya communities.
Beliefs and traditions
For devotees, Khandoba is their god, protector, giver of grace, and just king.
Every year, during festivals like Champashashthi, Song Wada Utsav, and Pola, lakhs of devotees come to Jejuri and perform various pujas, abhishekams, and Nila-Bhandara services.
Tashta Royal and Jejuri – Honoring Faith…
